Capture The Flag(CTF)
What is a Capture The Flag??
A Capture The Flag is a competition held which is mostly based on evaluating an individual's depth of knowledge on certain aspects related to computer technologies such as forensics, reverse engineering etc. The main aim of this competition is retrieving a special string also known as a flag by which the competitor can gain points. These competitions are mostly held online.
What are the different categories in CTF's ??
Some of the main categories in CTF competitions are :

Cryptography - This section includes challenges of varying difficulties. In these kinds of challenges, the flag is encrypted using any technique, and the person trying to retrieve the flag is supposed to break these codes to get the flag. The encryption technique may range from basic letter shifting to advanced mathematical equations. Caesar cipher is one of the most common and easiest encryption techniques while RSA is a very hard encryption technique.

Forensics - This section contains challenges in which the flag is encrypted inside a certain file or the hints to retrieve the flag is given through a network dump or memory dump. A very good observation skill along with a good knowledge of files and networks is required to solve these kind of challenges.
